RESEARCH FIELD
- 현재 지구와 전 인류는, 인구증가, 급격한 도시화, 무분별한 산업화 등의 요인으로 인한 기후변화로 지구온난화, 물 부족, 미세먼지 등으로 고통받고 있고, 향후 더 심화할 것으로 예측된다. 미래에 철저히 준비해야 할 분야는 물, 에너지, 식량, 의료 등의 순으로 꼽고 있다.
- 수자원은 생명유지, 산업의 활성화, 식량의 확보 등에 국가가 고려해야 할 최고 순위의 항목이다. 목적에 맞는 수질 및 수량의 확보 및 공급에는 항상 에너지와 연계한 고려 및 개발이 필요하다. 특히 바닷물을 담수화 할 수 있는 기술과 사용한 후의 생활 하수를 맞춤형 수질로 확보 할 수 있는 기술은 인류를 살리고, 산업을 활성화 한다. 분리막기술 및 바이오기술은 물과 에너지 부분에서 핵심적 역할을 담당한다. 이러한 기술개발을 위해 아래 분야를 핵심 연구영역으로 진행하고 있다.
- Membrane Fabrication (Thin film composite/nanocomposite) and Characterization [Water membranes (MF, UF, NF and RO) & Energy membranes (Ion exchange membranes)]
- Membrane Module Configuration (Hollow Fiber, Spiral Wound, Plate & Frame) and Mathematical Software Simulation (Computational Fluid Dynamics)
- Innovative System Process Engineering
- Mechanisms and Control for (Bio-)Fouling and Cleaning
- Applications for Water Desalination and Renewable Energy
