• Course DescriptionThe objective of this course is to introduce the basic concepts of power system stability and control which are very important issues in power system operation. In the first half of lecture, we will learn about the equipment characteristics and modelling which are essential for the understanding of power system. In the latter half, we will learn about active and reactive power control(AGC, AVR, etc), small-signal stability, transient stability, voltage stability, and subsynchronous oscillations. Methods of improving stability will also be studied briefly.
