Environmental Toxicology Chemistry Laboratory (ETCL) studies the effects of environmental pollutants on water quality and ecosystems. The main focus of the laboratory is on the effects of pollutants on the aquatic environments, in general, with an additional emphasis on the effects of pollutants on sediments and soil environments.
Since we are studying environmentally relevant chemicals, we are interested in both organisms exposed in the field, generally to a mixture of environmental pollutants, and laboratory models exposed under controlled laboratory conditions in order to verify the field results and in order to better characterize the underlying mechanisms.
Recently, we are studying the issues to evaluate the complexity of pollutants causing toxicity to aquatic organisms, that is, mixture toxicity, multi-generational effect, sub-organism toxicity and whole effluent toxicity.
