GIST Mathematics Week Announcement
Hello! We are excited to announce the GIST Mathematics Week, which will be held from September 2 to September 6, featuring a variety of events, including a special mathematics lecture on September 6.
Below is the detailed schedule for each event.
September 2 (Monday)
Meeting for Students Interested in Majoring or Minoring in Mathematics at GIST
- Time: 5:30 - 7:00 PM
- Location: College Building A, Room 115
- Details: An informational session for students interested in pursuing a major or minor in mathematics, discussing academic paths and career opportunities.

September 3 (Tuesday)
Student Presentation: Sharing Experiences from an Overseas Mathematics REU
- Presenter: Eon Lee (EECS '21)
- Time: 5:30 - 7:00 PM
- Location: College Building C, Room 110
- Details: Presentation on experiences and research outcomes from participating in a Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program. REUs are competitive summer research programs in the United States for undergraduate students in science, engineering, and mathematics fields.

September 4 (Wednesday)
Mathematics Lecture 1: Prof. Jin-Young Park (New York University)
- Topic: Threshold phenomena for random discrete structures -- towards the Kahn--Kalai Conjecture
- Language: English
- Time & Location: 4:30 PM, College Building C, Room 104
- Introduction: Prof. Jin-Young Park is a renowned scholar in the field of discrete mathematics and is currently conducting active research at New York University. He is well-known for solving significant problems in his field and has received multiple awards for his research excellence.

Mathematics Lecture 2: Prof. Sang-il Oum (Institute for Basic Science, CI)
- Topic: Mathematical Proofs in the Age of AI and the Internet

- Time & Location: 2:30 PM, College Building C, Room 104
- Introduction: Prof. Sang-il Oum, CI (Chief Investigator) at the Institute for Basic Science, will present new approaches and methodologies for mathematical proofs in the era of artificial intelligence and the internet.
