Along with the rapid development of MEMS/NEMS technology and novel materials, there arises a demand for unprecedented thermal characterization methods, e.g., the development of more accurate/faster measurement techniques at the micro/nanoscale or the thermal analysis of low-dimensional materials. We believe the efforts to meet this demand based on fundamental understanding will be crucial in addressing issues involving multidisciplinary (mechanical engineering, material science, physics, etc.) research problems and various industrial applications such as microsensors, thermal management technologies, and energy devices.
